The media is interested in the topic and issue of global warming because the science of the matter is unsettled. It is an issue that is very controversial and that is why learning about it and choosing a side has become a popular thing over the past years in the media. In my opinion in the "Inconvenient Truth" is extremely biased and focus's on the scares and what some may say "reality" of global warming..but many things Al Gore says are purely based on opinion, and can easily be rebutted. Some media and audiences gasped at what Gore stated and showed about global warming, causing fear and inspiration to do more to keep the earth "green". The media dives into what Gore states and claims so people world wide can have view and perspective of what is happening. The media not only focus's on this issue for people to pick a side and argue it, but because of the fact that our leaders play a role in how the situation is handled. If our leader in office is one who strongly believes the polar bears are dying because the earth naturally heats and cools, that leader may choose to invest thousands, even millions of dollars in researching this issue, advertising the issue, and making it known that to them it IS an issue we should be aware of. Those who disagree would like the countries money and tax dollars to go to something more productive such as employment rates, education, poverty, and improving the economy. Though global warming will continually be a controversial issue the medias role is to focus on establishing facts, and inform the people of what we can do, and accept things we CANNOT do. All of the earths functions cannot be altered by man.

Global warming or global cooling? I guess it depends on who you listen to. The professor that came to class told us we are in a global cooling that has to do with the sun flares of the sun. These sun flares seem to be dimenishing so what does that mean? Why are the sun flares dimenishing? Do we believe Al Gore? Gore says we are in global warming and uses all kinds of statistics to back up his theories. I think the earth has its own way of compensating. Over the earths 4.5 billion years, there have been several mass extinctions. The earth has adapted and started over with a new species. I think man is too insignificant to have such an impact on the earth, but it makes people feel good to have a cause to fight for.
